Hi, I'm Matthew and I've been writing about technology since I graduated high school in 2018. I started out writing news articles about the PC, a topic I had been interested in since I was about 14 when I built my first PC. The late 2010s were, in my opinion, some of the most exciting years the PC industry has gone through with AMD's resurgence and the introduction of cool technologies like DLSS.
Over the years, I branched out into covering servers and datacenters, testing computer hardware, and writing tons of helpful resources (which I'm sure were scraped for use in things like Gemini and ChatGPT). I've written at quite a few publications: Tom's Hardware, Digital Trends, Hot Hardware, XDA, and The Register to name the most important. If you've read a decent amount of articles in the past decade, it's likely at least one of them was one of mine.
In 2024, I left The Register to set out on my own, creating my own outlet called Silicon Insights, where I focused on testing hardware to obtain useful data for buyers and enthusiasts. I build the test benches, did the testing, planned out videos, wrote the scripts for those videos, recorded the videos with myself on camera or with a voiceover, edited the videos, and uploaded them to our YouTube channel. About the only thing I didn't do was handle the social media posts, which were mostly created by my wife Anna.
Although Silicon Insights was fastly growing, I ended the project in early 2025, mainly because I was running out of money to keep it going (it never made a penny for us), but also because I accepted an offer from Signal65 to work for them as a technical analyst, where I've had the pleasure of working with former PCPer Editor in Chief and Intel marketing chief Ryan Shrout. At Signal65, my primary work is writing up the consumer-oriented projects, but I also do research, find graphical resources, and perfom some testing from time to time.
